Georgian Bay

Georgian Bay is home, and perhaps because of that, I never seem to run out of reasons to photograph it. The Niagara Escarpment, immense stretches of water, rugged shoreline and skies that can shift from serene to completely unhinged in minutes make subtlety somewhat optional. One of these images is a 108-frame composite capturing a lightning storm unfolding across the Bay, an attempt to convey the scale and intensity of something no single exposure could contain. This is a landscape with presence. Expansive, unpredictable, occasionally violent and endlessly beautiful. And for me, wonderfully familiar.
